Glossary
The words players use in Discord and in game, and what they mean on this server, from A to Z.
- Armour class
- How much a vest or helmet stops, from class II to VI. Higher classes stop more, and cost more. Armour and helmets.
- Board
- The task board beside a trader in the hub, where his tasks are handed in. You can accept any task anywhere from the task screen on O. Ref, Mechanic, Fence and the Lightkeeper have no board: you hand in to the trader himself.
- BTR
- An armoured AI vehicle that drives the roads on patrol. Bring rockets. Patrols.
- C4, improvised charge
- The two workbench-made explosives that open bases. Rockets work too. Raiding.
- Combat log
- Logging out to escape a fight. The server keeps your body in the world for minutes after a combat logout, and doing it is also a rule violation. Death, logout and combat logging.
- Comp
- Compensation: a staff refund for gear lost to a bug, with clip evidence. There are situations where no comp is given; see the rules.
- Deploy
- Leaving the hub through the deploy screen, which drops you at a landing point of your choice. Deploy & extract.
- Duping
- Copying items through a bug. It is a ban, and so is using any bug instead of reporting it.
- Extract, exfil
- A marked zone that takes you back to the hub after a short countdown. Also used as a verb. Extracts.
- Flea market
- Tarkov's player market: list an item at your price and anyone can buy it, without meeting. Open at any trader zone or from a Base Terminal. Flea market.
- GP coins
- The currency of Ref, the arena dealer, who also gives the dailies and weeklies. Earned only from the dailies and weeklies. They don't turn up in loot and can't be bought.
- Heavy bleeding
- A bleed a bandage can't stop. It needs a tourniquet or the CALOK-B. Medical.
- Hidden stashes and caches
- Free loot chests on a rotating set of spots around the map. Not the same as your stash in the hub. Stash map.
- Hub, safezone
- The protected area on the south coast where the traders, task boards, stash lockers and the way out live. Nobody can be hurt inside it. The safezone.
- Keycard
- The coloured Lab cards that open specific rooms, and the Lab access card that gets you in. Keys and keycards.
- The Lab, Labs
- The keycard-gated laboratory you enter from its doors in the safezone. It is a true raid: the way out is one of its own extracts. The Lab.
- Lega medal
- The medal that weekly contracts pay and Ref wants for the Theta container.
- Level, XP
- Your player level, 1 to 79, raised by the XP everything you do earns. It counts towards every trader's loyalty level and opens the endgame tasks. Never lost on death. Levels & Loyalty.
- LFG
- Looking for group: the Discord channels where players find a squad.
- Loyalty level, LL
- Each trader's own ladder, I to IV, from your player level and your standing with him. It decides which of his shelves you can buy from. Levels & Loyalty.
- No-relog zone
- The Lab. Logging out inside it doesn't get you out, and coming back after more than ten minutes leaves your gear on the ground where you stood. The Lab.
- Outpost
- A trader's own camp out in the world instead of the hub. Mechanic, Fence and the Lightkeeper have one each. Locations.
- Penetration, pen
- Tarkov's measure of how well a round beats armour. Rounds here are ranked by it: the higher a round's penetration, the more damage it does. Ammunition.
- PMC
- A player. A "PMC kill" is a player kill.
- RA, RA Base Building
- The base-building system the server runs. Build from the radial menu with a blueprint in hand.
- Raid
- One trip from deploy to extract. Also, separately, breaking into somebody's base; the context tells you which.
- Raid alarm
- A kit for your base that alerts you and your whole group, in game and on your own Discord channel, when the base is hit. Territory and upkeep.
- Rarity
- How rare an item is, shown Tarkov's way in your inventory as a strip along the top and a line in the tooltip. It can be turned off under Options. Loot.
- Reserve
- A fourth friend on your group's roster who can be swapped in for an active player, under the fair-play rules. Groups.
- Restart
- The server restarts every three hours, on US Central time. Dailies change at 6:00. Restarts.
- Scav
- An armed AI man, in a group of two to four. Scavs turn up in the towns, farms, factories and military areas around players and take the place of DayZ's infected, which this server does not have. Bosses have guards of their own. Also Tarkov slang for a player who plays like one.
- Secure container
- The case that survives your death, in its own slot. Alpha comes with your first task; Beta, Epsilon, Kappa and Theta are earned. Secure containers.
- Shock, knocked out
- Hits drain shock as well as health. Run out and you black out for a while: alive, but helpless. Some stims and balms block it. Getting knocked out.
- Soft side
- The inside face of a base wall. It can be broken with a melee weapon, slowly and loudly; the outside face can't. Raiding.
- Standing
- How a trader regards you, raised by his tasks. It counts towards his loyalty levels. Levels & Loyalty.
- Stash
- Your storage and your money in the hub, upgraded on the stash screen over a wipe. Not the same as the hidden stashes on the map. The stash.
- Stims
- Stimulant injectors: timed boosts to things like stamina, healing or pain. Most have a cost, on use or when they wear off. Medical.
- Task, quest
- A job from a trader, on the task screen (O). Story tasks form chains; dailies and weeklies rotate. Quests / Tasks.
- Teaming
- Two groups working together as one bigger group. It is against the rules.
- Territory, generator
- A base is claimed by a generator that burns fuel and grows through five levels. No fuel, no territory, and the base decays. Territory and upkeep.
- Wipe
- The periodic reset of every character, stash and base. Levels, loyalty and task progress reset too. The last one was 15 October 2026.
