§ 05Traders & Economy
Traders
The ten traders: where each one is, the trade screen, what they sell, their loyalty levels, barters and services, and what they pay when you sell.
On this page
Seven traders are in the safezone and three are out on the map. The two that pay most when you sell are both out there. Each card's percentage is roughly what that trader pays for an item you sell, as a share of its value.
The trade screen#
Walk into a trade zone and press I. Every trader the zone reaches is on one board, each with his portrait card, your loyalty level and standing with him, and a countdown to his next restock. His goods are on the left at their real size, tinted by rarity, your own gear is on the right, and the deal sits between them. Search and sort by price, and filter by his loyalty tabs, I to IV. The key can be rebound under Controls.
- Know what you're buying. The deal panel says what an item is: armour class, what it stops and its durability; storage, size and weight; fire modes, rate of fire and the calibre and magazine a gun takes; the damage and penetration of every round.
- Exact money. You are charged and paid the exact amount, with change given and piles topped up. Peacekeeper prices in dollars, but if you are short your roubles make up the difference.
- Sell smarter. Press Space to sell, Ctrl+click several items to sell them in one deal, or sell a whole category in one go. A kitted gun sells whole, paying for every part on it and the rounds in its magazine, or part by part, each part going to whoever pays most. A loaded magazine pays for the rounds in it too, at that trader's price for loose rounds.
- Trade from your stash. At the safezone traders you can sell straight from your stash, buy straight into it and pay from the money in it. The stash.
- A pickup crate for full pockets. Anything that doesn't fit on you goes into a crate at your feet that only you can see. It disappears 30 minutes after the last item went in, with whatever is still inside.
Loyalty, stock and barters#
Each trader has four loyalty levels. Yours with him rises with your player level, your standing from his tasks and the money you spend with him, and each level opens another of his shelves. Levels & Loyalty has every trader's table.
- Stock restocks Tarkov's way. Each trader is on his own clock, shown as a countdown on his card, and the rarest items carry a fair per-player limit for each restock.
- Barters at every loyalty level. Trade items instead of money, and the very best items are available by barter. Every barter item can be found as loot.
- Weapon modding at the counter. Every slot is laid out around the gun, your own parts are offered first and free, the recoil and sway stats update as you build, and you can save up to 20 builds.
- Buy magazines loaded with any round the trader sells, and loose ammunition by the round. A free Load Ammo service at every trader loads, tops up or empties every magazine you carry.
- Every gun comes with its magazine and its ammunition on the same trader's shelf, and guns from barters come with their stock and handguard.
- One colour on the shelf. Where an item comes in several colours, traders sell its base colour only. They still buy the other colours back.
Services#
- Repairs: Prapor, Skier and Mechanic repair your gear, each to a different quality and price. Mechanic's work is the best and the dearest.
- Insurance is off. What's on your body when you die stays there.
- Currency exchange: Skier and Peacekeeper. Market and currency.
- Vehicles: Mechanic delivers a vehicle you buy to a free pad, with its kit and full fluids, locked, and the key in your pocket. He buys vehicles back too. Vehicles.
What each one is for#
- Prapor: the Russian side. AKs, the SVD, VSS and Val, and their ammunition and parts. His line ends with the Epsilon container.
- Peacekeeper: the NATO side, in dollars, as in Tarkov. M4s, HKs, SCARs and the MCX, and their ammunition. The Beta container is on his line.
- Skier: tools, electronics and parts, a few guns, radios and GPS from loyalty level I with the battery fitted, foregrips, and a currency counter. Most of his SMGs are barters.
- Mechanic: garage and gunsmith at his outpost in the north-east: cars, two armoured vehicles (the Vodnik and the armoured offroad), helicopters, and weapon parts for both sides. Every vehicle comes with its kit fitted, so the only loose parts he sells are the ones that keep it running: wheels, batteries, plugs and the like. The Lightkeeper's chain starts with him.
- Jaeger: hunting rifles and shotguns, food, supplies, tools, and the base-building shelf: the building plan, the code lock, the generator kit (250,000 ₽) and its fuel (100,000 ₽ a can), and the benches and terminals for your base. He is also the trader who buys pelts and meat: sell them raw and fresh. Jaeger's tasks.
- Therapist: medicine and the Lab access keycard (125,000 ₽). She pays the best rate in the safezone.
- Ragman: Tarkov's Ragman list and nothing else: rigs, packs, helmets, headsets, the PACA, Kirasa and 6B23, and the black balaclava. He sells no clothing.
- Ref: the arena dealer. Weapons, armour, cases and a keycard holder, for GP coins only, which come from his dailies and weeklies. He sells and does not buy. Dailies and weeklies.
- Fence: the black-market trader out at Black Lake, with the widest shelf on the server. He shows part of his stock at a time and swaps some of it every few minutes, so it is worth checking back. No loyalty levels: what he shows, anyone can buy.
- Lightkeeper: the endgame trader at the lighthouse on the south-east coast, reached through his task chain (Unlocking the Lightkeeper). He sells the endgame tier nobody else has: the .50-cal rifles, the best suppressors, Mando and Killa helmets, top carriers and more. He also pays best on the server, except for his own exclusives.
What they pay when you sell#
Where you sell matters. Everything that spawns as loot sells to at least one trader: tins, bandages, optics, grenades, every key. Out on the map, Fence and the Lightkeeper pay best: Fence 70% of an item's value, and the Lightkeeper about 1.3 times what the best safezone trader pays for the same item, never less than Fence and never more than it costs to buy. The one exception is the Lightkeeper's own exclusives, which he buys back for only 25% of his price, the same for every colour. The safezone traders pay Tarkov's own rates, from Therapist at the top to Peacekeeper at the bottom.
| Trader | Where | Pays, pristine |
|---|---|---|
| Lightkeeper | Outpost, south-east of the map | 100% |
| Fence | Outpost, north-west of the map | 70% |
| Therapist | Safezone hub | 63% |
| Ragman | Safezone hub | 62% |
| Jaeger | Safezone hub | 60% |
| Mechanic | Outpost, north-east of the map | 56% |
| Prapor | Safezone hub | 50% |
| Skier | Safezone hub | 49% |
| Peacekeeper | Safezone hub | 45% |
Those percentages are for a pristine item. Worn sells for three quarters of that, damaged for half, badly damaged for a quarter, and ruined for nothing. Market and currency.
Their task lines#
Each trader's chain, what it pays and what it unlocks is on Quests / Tasks.
