Storage & Decay

What happens to tents, barrels, crates and furniture left in the world, why a fuelled territory is the only permanent storage outside the hub, and what the terminals need.

There are two kinds of permanent storage on the server: your stash in the hub, and anything inside a fuelled territory. Everything else rots.

Outside a territory#

Tents, barrels, crates, furniture, the third-party storage — Boomlays furniture, depots and beds, the sleeping bags and the repair workbench — all decay outside a fuelled territory exactly like a base piece does. A stash dropped in the woods is not permanent; it's a bet that nobody finds it before it goes.

Inside a territory#

A fuelled generator holds decay off everything inside its radius. Hideout storage objects inside a territory last around 45 days before decaying rather than a handful; the generator running dry starts the clock on all of it. Territory and upkeep.

Terminals#

A base terminal is a placed piece like any other: it needs upkeep, and an unmaintained one degrades and eventually goes. Player market and terminals.

The safe option#

The stash in the hub never decays, never gets raided and never runs out of fuel. It's smaller — that's the trade.
