§ 02The Server
How to Join
Joining from DayZ's own launcher with Direct Connect, getting the mods, and what to do if it won't connect.
On this page
Open DayZ's own launcher, press Direct Connect, enter 172.111.51.159 port 2302, and let it set up the mods. You need nothing but DayZ. The rest of this page is the detail.
What you need#
- DayZ on Steam. Nothing else is bought, and nothing else has to be installed.
- Free disk space for the mod collection. It is large, so expect a long first download.
Joining with the DayZ launcher#
- Open the DayZ launcher. Press Play on DayZ in Steam; the launcher opens before the game.
- Go to Servers and press Direct Connect. Enter 172.111.51.159 and port 2302. Tick Add to Favorites and it is one click next time.
- Let it set up the mods. The launcher reads the server's mod list and offers to download every mod from the Steam Workshop. Accept, and it joins once they are in. The first time this takes a while; after that it only fetches updates.
- Wait for the game to start. DayZ opens straight into the server's queue.
The server is also in the launcher's Community list as Escape From DayZ Solo/Duo/Trio, on Chernarus, first person only. Direct Connect is quicker: the list holds thousands of servers, and a few on other addresses use our name.
Subscribe once, update forever
The mods come from the Steam Workshop. Subscribing to the server's mod pack as well means Steam keeps them current in the background, so joining after an update is quick.
Joining with the DZSA Launcher#
The free community launcher works too, if you already use it. The quickest way is the one-click join link: it opens the DZSA Launcher on our server, and the launcher fetches the mods and connects.
Or by hand:
- Open the DZSA Launcher and go to the community server list.
- Search for Escape From DayZ and press Join. It installs the mods the same way.
Before your first raid#
- Join the Discord. The rules, the changelog, the tickets and the LFG channels are all there. Staff answer tickets, not in-game chat.
- Read the rules — they are short, and the ones about groups and combat logging are enforced by the server itself.
- Then read Start Here. It's your first hour, in ten steps.
It won't connect#
Most join failures are one of three things. Troubleshooting has the full list.
- A mod is missing or out of date. Close DayZ and join again from the launcher; it checks the mods every time and fetches what changed.
- The server is restarting. It does so every three hours; wait five minutes. Restart times.
- The queue is full. Stay in it; it lets you in when a slot opens. Or skip it with priority queue from the store.
