A group is 3 players, but a lot of friend groups are four. Every group has a roster: the 3 actives who are the group, plus room for one reserve. The fourth friend sits on the roster as the reserve, and the leader swaps them in when somebody else wants a break.

The server keeps track of all of it. You don't need a ticket, and staff don't need to be online.

The rules in one minute#

  • A new group fills up freely for its first hour. Invite people from the GROUP page as usual.
  • After that, every change of who plays counts. A swap, or a new player joining, is one change every 2 hours.
  • No swaps straight after a death or in the middle of a fight. Wait 30 minutes after anyone involved dies. Your reserve dying while playing solo doesn't count: they can still be swapped in.
  • Whoever leaves can't come back for 3 days. That covers leaving, being kicked, being removed, or being replaced. You get ten minutes to undo an accidental leave.
  • Your crew is 4 people, never more. Replacing someone is for good: the player who left doesn't come back to your crew this wipe, and taking turns with more than 4 different people breaks the group cap. The full rule, with examples.
  • Type !roster in chat any time to see your group's status and the commands.

Who's who#

What they are What they get
Actives (up to 3) The group itself The group map, group chat, deploying together, no friendly fire, group territories: everything on the Groups page
The reserve (one) On the roster, but not in the group Plays on their own between swaps. No group map, chat or friendly-fire protection, because they aren't in the group
Leader and officers Actives who run the roster Every !roster command below

Commands are typed in chat. Nobody else sees them, and the answer appears on your screen.

Naming a reserve#

The reserve and the leader (or an officer) both need to be online.

  1. The reserve finds their invite code. It's on their GROUP page: four letters. They must not be in a group themselves.
  2. The leader names them: !roster reserve ABCD, using the reserve's code.
  3. The reserve agrees within two minutes: !roster accept. Nobody can be made a reserve without saying yes.

Your group's first reserve is free. Naming a different reserve later counts as a change.

Invite codes change at every restart, so ask for a fresh one.

Swapping the reserve in#

The leader or an officer types the name of the active who is sitting out:

!roster swap Alex

  • The reserve joins the group straight away. Alex leaves the group and becomes the reserve.
  • The reserve must be online. Alex doesn't have to be.
  • The start of a name is enough, as long as it only matches one person.
  • The next change is allowed in 2 hours.

To bring in someone new instead of the reserve, put their invite code after the name: !roster swap Alex ABCD. Alex is then off the roster and can't rejoin for 3 days, and your reserve stays the reserve.

New players joining#

Invite them from the GROUP page as normal. In a new group's first hour that's all there is to it.

After that, a new player joining is a change, just like a swap. If it isn't allowed yet, they are taken back out of the group within a few seconds. You and they are both told why. Nothing else happens: try again when the reason has passed.

When a change is refused#

The message tells you which rule stopped it:

The message says What it means What to do
the group's next roster change is in … One change every 2 hours Wait for the time shown. !roster shows it any time
… died … ago, so no roster change for another … Someone died in the last 30 minutes: an active, the player going out, a new player coming in, or someone who just left. Your own reserve's deaths don't count Wait the time shown. A teammate who died can't be replaced with a fresh one mid-fight
… is in combat Someone involved was in a fight in the last few minutes Get clear of the fight and wait a few minutes
… is inside an active raid Someone involved is at a raid Finish or leave the raid first
… is in the Lab Someone involved is in the Lab Leave the Lab first
… is within … m of another player An active is within 500 m of a player who isn't on your roster Move somewhere quiet. The safezone doesn't count, so the safezone is a good place to swap
… must be online to be swapped in The player coming in isn't connected They log in first
they left … and can't rejoin it for … That player left your roster in the last 3 days Wait the time shown, or pick someone else
… left a group whose roster changed recently, so their next change is in … The player is carrying the wait from the group they just left They wait the time shown

Leaving and removing#

You want to How Notes
See your roster and when the next change is allowed !roster Anyone on the roster
Leave (active or reserve) !roster leave, or leave from the GROUP page You can't rejoin for 3 days. An accidental leave from the GROUP page can be undone within ten minutes by being invited back
Take someone off the roster !roster remove Alex Always allowed, and it doesn't start the wait. Whoever fills the slot does. They can't rejoin for 3 days

Replacing someone is for good. The server lets a player back after 3 days, but the rule is that a replaced player doesn't return to your crew this wipe, and no more than 4 different people share one crew. Server rules.

The wait goes with you. If you leave a group within 2 hours of its last change, or within 30 minutes of a teammate's death, you take that wait into the next group you make or join. So leaving, disbanding or starting a fresh group never resets anything. People who left a disbanded group still can't join a group its members make.

While you're the reserve#

You can play freely on your own: loot, raid, extract, trade. What you can't do is play alongside your actives. That would make the group four, which is exactly what the cap is for.

  • If you stay within 300 m of one of your actives for about two minutes outside the safezone, you both get a reminder and staff are notified. It repeats every ten minutes for as long as it carries on.
  • If the reserve and an active both hit the same player within a few minutes, staff see that too.

Common questions#

Can we have two reserves? No. One reserve per group.

Can the reserve and the actives all be online at once? Yes, as long as the reserve plays separately.

What happens if we swap out the leader? The player coming in joins as a Member, and the leadership passes to the longest-serving officer (or, if there isn't one, the longest-serving member). Promote someone first if you'd rather choose.

Does a restart reset anything? No. The wait, the death hold and the list of people who can't rejoin all carry on. A restart does cancel a reserve invite that hasn't been accepted yet, and it changes everyone's invite code.

Somebody was kicked by mistake. Invite them back within ten minutes and nothing is lost. After that, open a ticket: staff can put them back.

Something's wrong with our roster. Open a ticket. Staff can see every roster's history and fix it.
