§ 06Map & Locations
Extracts
How extracts work, how many there are, how long they take, and the explosives rule around them.
An extract is a marked zone that takes you back to the hub with everything you're carrying. Every one is free and open all the time: walk in, stay inside, wait for the countdown.
Finding one#
Extracts are on your map around the clock as green crosses, with a timer on the marker, and the deploy screen shows the ones in reach of each town. Their names are hidden — on the map and here — so a marker doesn't give a location away to someone reading over your shoulder, and learning which marker is which is part of learning the map. On the ground most extracts burn smoke and show a green light.
Using one#
- Stand inside the zone. The countdown runs on its own; you don't press anything.
- Taking damage does not cancel it. An extract under fire is still an extract. Get in and stay in.
- No vehicles. You can't extract while in one. Get out first.
- Once an extract fires it needs 30 s before it can be used again.
The explosives rule#
Claymores, mines and charges can't be placed or armed within 30 m of any extract, and anything already there is swept. Trap-camping an extract isn't possible, and every extract sits inside a no-build zone, so nobody can wall one in. Blocking one with a vehicle is against the rules.
The Lab's exits#
The Lab has four exits of its own, and they behave like the rest. Their names are hidden too.
The Lab has the detail on getting in.
