§ 03Core Gameplay
Death, Logout & Combat Logging
What you keep when you die, why your body stays in the world after you disconnect, and how long for.
When you die#
Everything you were wearing and carrying stays on your body where you fell, for anyone to take. Two things come with you:
- Whatever is inside your secure container. That is what it's for — keys, keycards, cash, task items, the small valuable things. It refuses explosives, grenades, magazines and other containers. Secure containers.
- Everything that isn't gear. Reputation, trader access, finished tasks, your stash, your base and your skills are tied to your account, not your character. Reputation never goes down on death.
You respawn on the coast as a fresh character and walk back to the hub.
When you log out#
Your character does not vanish when you disconnect. It stays standing in the world, and it can be killed and looted the whole time:
You count as in combat for 5 min after dealing or taking damage, and for 1 min after firing a shot. Alt+F4, pulling the cable and crashing all count the same — the server can't tell the difference and doesn't try. The one exception is a scheduled restart: in the 5 min before one, a logout leaves no body. Restarts.
The rule still applies
The body timer makes combat logging pointless; it doesn't make it allowed. Logging out for five minutes after you or your group dealt or took damage, or logging out inside a no-relog zone to avoid a fight, is a rule violation on its own. Logging off while defending an active raid is a minimum three-day ban and forfeit of the loot. Server rules.
No-relog zones#
Some places are too important to leave by logging out. The Lab is one: within 300 m of it you cannot log out to escape a fight at all. The posted rules list the others — toxic zones, Fence, the Lightkeeper, events and similar high-risk areas — where logging out is treated as combat logging whatever your last damage was.
Crashed?#
Rejoin immediately. Your body is standing where you left it, and getting back into it is the only way to protect it.
